iTunes 6.02 includes spyware?

I'd just reinstalled my Windows XP PC yesterday. And as usual i was downloading the applications' last versions from the official sites. After a fresh Spybot Search&Desroy scan the result was really shocking. It found something strange, click for larger image.

Isn't that odd? I guess it's a false-positive, at least i hope so. There're some stories around for a while about iTunes collects your personal data such as playlists, listening habbits etc. All of these made me worry about my personal privacy.

Hey! Here's the site that allows you make your own folk music mix online. Ok, how?

You choose 5 points from the city map. Every point has its own properties like train passing, people speech on the street etc and each point connects to another point. This makes the sound unique. Change volume level and pan of each channel and press the mix button. That's it, the project site sends the final mix to your email. Believe me, it sounds amazing!

Currently, only New York lower east side's map is available. But the project is still growing, i guess many other maps'll be available later. You lucky NewYorkers.. :)

Folk Songs for the Five Points is a digital arts project that allows you to create your own ?folk songs? by remixing and overlaying a range of sounds taken from New York?s Lower East Side.
The SoundMap features a visual representation of the Lower East Side, overlaid with a series of dots. Each dot represents an audio sample recorded at that particular place. To select a sample, click and drag one of circles over the chosen dot. The sample will then automatically start playing.Underneath the map is a control panel ? with controls to independently control up to 5 selected sounds. Here's two FREE operating systems with multimedia (audio/video) creation tools. Yes, you hear right; the applications are all free and come ready right OUT-OF-THE-BOX!

Both distros have great support after installation. It's allways possible to make a dual-boot setup.
Planet CCRMA is built on FedoraCore so you'll first need the Core CDs. They are all free to download. The additional information are all in their mailing lists, just search.

HOW TO: get rid of HDD noise?

There're lots of tricks out there but i'd not seen this one before. It's for only Intel chipset mobos. Sorry AMD guys. Here's the trick i did;

First of all you need Intel Application Accelerator. Download the latest version from Intel site for free. After installation you may need a restart.
If you have it already then launch the application.

You'll see primary and secondary channels on the left side. Choose the HDD(s) you want to silence.
Now on the right side you'll see a bunch of parameters and values. Find Auto-Acoustic Management parameter and double click it. If you can't see it then your HDD/mobo doesn't support this feature.
You see the "Edit Value" pop-up right?

Then choose "Minimum Acoustic Output". Click OK. That's it. Dreams come true, you won't here it any more!

HOW TO: remove search engines from Firefox?

Well it's pretty easy to add new engines. What if you'd bloated it with many no-need-any-more plugins? Let's get the clutter out..

First open Firefox program folder, usually;

C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\searchplugins

There, you'll see double of each search engine that come up with typical Firefox installation ".png" and ".src". Delete the pair you don't want any more.

Then go to the application data folder (hidden), usually;

C:\Documents and Settings\[UserName]\Application Data\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\[ProfileName]\searchplugins
The same rule here. Remember this folder because all the new search plugins goes directly to this folder. Restart Firefox and that's it..
